counseling for teens
Are you WORRIED about your teen?
Is your teen struggling with relationships, school, a life transition, social challenges or emotional outbursts? Are you tired of nagging, fighting and feeling like the "bad guy"? Maybe you feel disconnected from your teen, worried that you might lose them…
It's okay, worrying is a normal part of being a parent. You worry because you CARE!
Being a teen is HARD.
With smartphones, video games and social media, adolescents are under a unique pressure that can lead to symptoms of depression, social anxiety, substance abuse, addiction and eating disorders. These mental health issues can damage a teen's relationships, self-esteem, physical health, academic performance and future. Without proper skills and resources, teens and parents can be left feeling helpless and hopeless.
My passion is empowering teens to heal, grow and THRIVE.
The counseling relationship is a powerful vessel of healing and hope. Through our work together, teens learn how to understand, communicate and regulate their thoughts and emotions. They are also given a safe space to process grief, heal from trauma and find purpose in their pain. In counseling, teens are able to build self-esteem and develop healthy coping skills that equip them to succeed in relationships, school and society.
Common struggles addressed in teen counseling include:
Academic problems
ADHD
Adjustment issues / Life transitions
Anger
Anxiety and worry
Depression
Family conflict / Parent divorce or separation

If your teen is struggling with any of these issues, I would love to help! Feel free to reach out and we can see if I would be a good fit for your teen.
my approach
Our teenage years are some of the most formative years of our lives! It's a time when we discover who we are and where we fit in the world. The problem is… teens don't feel safe to be themselves. I'm here to offer a safe space for them to be real and honest without judgment or shame.
With over 10 years of combined experience as a coach, mentor, pastor and therapist for youth, I have learned how important it is to relate to young people at their level. I believe that teens need to feel seen, heard and accepted exactly where they are at. By helping teens discover their innate worth and value, I empower them to become their healthiest and happiest selves.
What role do parents / caregivers play?
A healthy parent-teen relationship plays a key role in a teen’s ability to heal, grow and thrive. I serve as a relational bridge between you and your teen. In moments when you don’t know what to do, I'm here to help YOU help your teen.
Counseling for youth is unique as it requires collaboration and support from parents and other adult figures in the teen's life. I may invite the parent(s)/caregiver(s) into a session or ask to speak with the teen's teacher or doctor to provide the best care for your teen's specific needs.
HOW IT WORKS
Step one
Schedule a free, 15-minute phone consultation. This is a no-pressure opportunity for me to get to know you and your teen and see if we are a good fit. During this call, I will speak with you and your teen to hear your concerns and make sure we are all on the same page.
Step two
If we are a good fit, I will send you some intake paperwork and we will schedule a 50-minute initial session. During this first session, you can come in with your teen for part or all of the session. We will discuss current struggles, gather relevant history and create a plan for treatment.
Step three
I will meet weekly or every other week with your teen depending on their specific needs until they have reached their goals for therapy. I will also be communicating with you when it is the teen’s best interest while maintaining their confidentiality.
