Hello. I’m Bekah!
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) and owner of Every Breath Counseling PLLC. I am passionate about helping you heal, grow and live the life you've dreamed of living.
I'm not a mystical guru. I am a normal person, just like you. I get hangry, crave dark chocolate and binge watch Netflix from time to time. I haven't found the secret to perfection (spoiler alert: there isn't one!), but I've learned how to be present in the process.
I'm not here to "fix" your problems, but I can provide a space for you to be real with yourself, carry your burdens with you and celebrate your successes. I will be your biggest cheerleader and a trusted confidant. You're the hero of your story, I'm just the sidekick.
My style
People describe me as "easy to talk to" and "approachable." I create a calming environment where you can relax and be yourself. You deserve to be heard, so my first priority is to listen. That being said, I'm not a sit-and-nod therapist. I will give you space to process, but I will also gently redirect and graciously challenge you to move you towards your goals. Through empathy and empowerment, I hold space for clients to be fully seen, fully known and fully accepted.
My approach
My approach to therapy is personal, collaborative and relational. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model, but instead I take the time to understand your history, hear your struggles and explore your goals. As I get to know you, I will develop a personalized treatment plan utilizing various evidence-based tools to help you reach your goals and learn about yourself in the process. I respect your time and investment, so I will ask for your feedback and collaborate with you throughout our work together to make sure you are seeing the progress you desire.
While I integrate various treatment approaches into my work, my therapeutic style is largely influenced by Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Strength-Based Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also incorporate mindfulness and somatic interventions to restore the connection between mind, body and spirit.
My story
Through my own journey of battling depression, surviving abuse and recovering from addiction, I have learned how hopeless life can seem when we are carrying our burdens alone. I know how easy it is to spiral into negative thoughts, feel overwhelmed by emotions and get stuck in unhealthy cycles of behavior. At our lowest points, hope is hard to come by, but it is not lost.
After seeking professional help, I was able to experience freedom, find hope and reclaim my life. My passion is to help you do the same.
